Giving Tuesday 2022: History Matters More Than Ever!

Giving Tuesday is November 29th this year.

Every day at the Congregational Library & Archives we are reminded just how much history matters. Now, more than ever, people need the CLA’s commitment to preserve and promote the Congregational story as an avenue for understanding history’s lingering imprint on today’s civic, cultural, and social issues. As a supporter recently reflected, “The CLA matters to me because it represents real lives, real faith, real stories, real history, and real significance!”

This Giving Tuesday we’re highlighting some of the real people who have contributed to and benefited from the Congregational Library & Archives over the past year. They are researchers, transcribers, students, ministers, and church members. Follow our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts throughout the day to learn more about their stories.

From thoughtful virtual programs on our theological heritage to a variety of events showcasing staff expertise, from regular consultations with churches seeking to preserve their records to the addition of new primary sources with transcriptions to our Digital Archive, we demonstrate the ongoing relevance of the 400+ year Congregational story.

Your gift to our History Matters More Than Ever campaign will support our ability to continue offering impactful experiences for church members, students, scholars, and history enthusiasts throughout the coming year.

Our goal this Giving Tuesday is to gain:

  • 25 first-time donors
  • $5,000 in total gifts

And as a special incentive,

  • if you give $100 or more, we will send you a Congregational Library & Archives notebook.
  • if you give $250 or more we will send you a notebook and a signed copy of Sara Georgini’s recent book, Household Gods: The Religious Lives of the Adams Family, subject of a recent CLA virtual discussion and newly available in paperback.
